02 The privacy promise

We built Humm in the order most apps don't. Privacy first, then product. Audio is transcribed on your phone with WhisperKit, encrypted at rest with AES-256, and synced — if you opt in — through end-to-end encrypted iCloud.

There is no Humm cloud microphone. There never will be.

WhisperKit runs on the Apple Neural Engine. Audio is processed locally, then the file is deleted unless you keep it.

Questions, answered.

07.1 Does my voice ever leave my phone? +
No. Transcription happens locally with WhisperKit on your device's Neural Engine. The audio file is deleted after transcription unless you choose to keep it.
07.2 What happens if I turn on iCloud sync? +
iCloud sync is end-to-end encrypted with a key only you hold. We can't read your notes, and neither can Apple. You can revoke any device at any time.
07.3 Is Humm free? +
Yes — capture, transcribe, and organise unlimited notes for free. Humm Pro adds the daily digest, voice shortcuts, and unlimited history.
07.4 What devices does Humm support? +
iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and CarPlay. macOS is on the roadmap.
